19th Century Gold Ring with Ancient Chalcedony Intaglio
The intaglio technique dates back to the Roman Empire, and refers to the recessed engravings into stone or glass. This intaglio is carved into a piece of chalcedony and set in heavy 22k yellow gold. Depicting the roman goddess Nike, symbolizing victory, the stone appears to be from around 200-900 AD, but with a more modern, 19th century setting. A great men's pinky or ring finger ring.
